Decisions regarding a vessel’s operation require up-to-date information on its condition. The Vessel Condition Survey provides an independent assessment of the items included in the scope, recording what was observed, the information reviewed and the limitations encountered. Its value lies in transforming onboard observations into organised information for those who need to make decisions remotely.
TWS Maritime Service defines the survey based on the purpose presented by the client. Depending on the type of vessel and the available access, the work may cover the apparent condition of the hull in observable areas, deck, cargo spaces, hatches and equipment expressly included. Preservation aspects, visible damage and signs of deterioration are described without assuming the condition of concealed or unexamined components.
Physical observation may be supplemented by a review of the documents made available and by clarifications from the onboard team. This combination helps to understand the context of the findings and identify matters that may require follow-up. The existence of a certificate alone does not replace the requested verification, just as a visual inspection does not replace specific examinations or tests.
The report presents the areas inspected, technical observations, relevant photographic records and items that could not be assessed. Where applicable to the scope, needs for clarification, follow-up or further investigation may be indicated. The client receives a reference for its decisions, rather than an unrestricted guarantee of the vessel’s future performance.
We serve domestic and international clients with an interest in vessels operating in Brazil, especially in the North and Northeast. To plan the inspection, provide the vessel’s name and IMO number, location, available timeframe and the purpose of the assessment. Defining priorities in advance enables the survey to focus on the information genuinely required for your operation.
