The lashing of cargo must correspond to the conditions anticipated for its transport. The number of devices installed, in isolation, does not demonstrate that the arrangement is adequate: planning, securing points, supports and execution must be considered together. TWS Maritime Service provides technical supervision to document the work performed and identify observable discrepancies in relation to the instructions and documents made available.
Depending on the scope, the monitoring may cover cargo positioning, supports and chocks, arrangement of lashing elements, and the apparent condition of accessible accessories. Documentary review may include identification of the components and certificates presented, without treating their mere presentation as confirmation of the authenticity or adequacy of the arrangement. Photographs and a description of the arrangement help record the condition in which the cargo was found at the stage actually monitored.
The vessel's Cargo Securing Manual and the specific plans provided constitute important references for compliance, where applicable. The IMO CSS Code reinforces the relationship between planning, execution and supervision, while preserving the master's responsibilities. For cargo packed in transport units, such as containers, specific distribution, blocking and securing requirements may apply and must be identified when defining the scope of work.
Where differences are observed between the execution and the documentation available, TWS Brasil records and communicates them to the designated responsible parties. This provides an objective basis for assessing corrections before completion of the service. The report also identifies areas not accessed, documents not presented and conditions dependent on third-party confirmation, preventing gaps from being treated as completed verifications.
Supervision does not automatically include preparation or approval of designs, structural calculations, testing of accessories or physical execution of lashing. Nor does it constitute a class certificate or a guarantee against cargo shifting. Send the characteristics, weight, dimensions, destination and available plans so that the monitoring can be sized according to the intended operation.
