Container inspection — with or without apparent damage
Inspection of containers with or without apparent damage, documenting their condition, identification and limitations to support receipts, returns and analysis of incidents in the logistics chain.
Request attendanceA container with no evident damage may also require a documented inspection. Upon collection, delivery, return or following an incident, recording its condition helps the parties distinguish what was observed at that time from what requires further investigation. The inspection serves the needs of shippers, consignees, carriers, operators and other parties interested in the movement of the unit.
The scope may include container identification, comparison with the documents presented and visual examination of accessible areas. The structure, panels, roof, floor, doors, fittings, seals and securing points are considered according to the type of unit and the possibility of safe access. Apparent signs of moisture, residues, persistent odours or previous repairs relevant to the stated purpose may also be recorded.
For damaged containers, the description should identify the location of the damage and state its observable extent, together with the available evidence. Photographs and comparison with previous records, when provided, help organise the analysis. The appearance of damage alone does not establish when it occurred or determine liability. Conclusions regarding cause, repair requirements or fitness for use depend on the information and criteria agreed for the assignment.
Verification of plates and markings does not constitute the granting or renewal of CSC approval. A condition inspection also does not automatically include examination of the cargo packed inside or the pre-trip inspection of the refrigeration system, known as PTI. The use of IICL criteria or other technical standards must be defined in the engagement, without confusing inspection criteria with the inspector's professional certification.
To request service from TWS, provide the container number and type, location, whether empty or loaded, purpose of the survey and available documents. For loaded units, access may limit conclusions regarding the interior. Defining these conditions in advance makes it possible to produce a record focused on the contracting party's decision, without turning the absence of visible damage into a guarantee of absolute integrity. On-site service is provided in Northern and Northeastern Brazil, subject to confirmation of availability.
