Outturn Surveys — cargo condition at discharge
We document the condition of the cargo upon arrival and during discharge, with organized evidence to assess damage, clarify discrepancies and support operational decisions.
Request attendance
The condition of the cargo at destination must be recorded while evidence remains available. Moisture marks, deformation, damaged packaging or differences between lots may lose context as discharge progresses. TWS’s Outturn Survey provides an independent technical observation of this stage, helping the appointing party understand what was effectively found and under which circumstances.
Subject to the appointment, attendance may begin before the hatch covers are opened, where access and operational opportunity permit. The inspection considers the apparent condition of the cargo, its stowage in accessible spaces, the packaging and observable signs of damage. During discharge, records may cover handling occurrences, identification of affected packages and the distinction between observations upon arrival and events subsequently witnessed. Quantitative checks, sampling and analyses require a specific definition of method and scope.
The documentation brings together contextualized photographs, cargo identification and an objective description of the findings. When made available, shipping documents, previous records and operational information help establish a sequence of events. This comparison may indicate matters requiring further investigation; an isolated photograph or a sign of oxidation, for example, does not automatically establish the origin of damage.
The report organizes the relevant elements for dialogue between the parties and may support cargo segregation, cargo protection and loss mitigation measures, in accordance with the instructions received. The conclusions respect the period attended, the areas inspected and access limitations. They do not represent a decision on contractual liability, insurance coverage or indemnity.
When requesting the service, please provide the vessel, port, cargo, estimated time of arrival and reason for the inspection. With these references, TWS can propose attendance compatible with the operation and with the questions the appointing party needs to clarify.
